Wind Speed and Direction
Wind Direction:
Wind Speed:
Wind Direction and Speed are one of the most important aspects for choosing a fishing spot. An offshore wind can help land-based anglers with longer casting distances, while an onshore wind will make kayak fishing safer. Often fish will also move to certain feeding areas depending on the wind direction. Check out the long term wind forecast at the charts below.
Fishing Barometer
Atmospheric Pressure:
Change since midnight:
Trend for next 6 hours:
Atmospheric or Barometric Pressure affects fish activity. The best fishing can be had on a rising barometer and also the time just before it is falling. A steady barometer in the higher ranges can also mean good fishing. A falling or low barometer reading without much change is usually not a very good time for fishing.
UV Effect on Fishing
As a rule of thumb, the higher the UV index, the deeper fish will move. Shallow water fishing is best done at times with a low UV index. When the UV is high, stick to early mornings, late evenings and shaded areas. The effect is less noticable in deeper water, but often a higher UV index can produce good results in the deep.

October Fishing Report
Two Rocks is fishing well this October as water temps creep up and bait schools push inshore. Offshore lumps are producing dhufish and pink snapper on slow-pitch jigs and mulies; look for bait stacked midwater and work the edges of broken ground. In closer, the reefs and sand patches are holding King George whiting, baldchin groper, and chunky skippy. The marina walls and nearby beaches are reliable for tailor at dawn and dusk, with metal slices or pilchard garfish baits, while the weed beds are yielding squid on size 3.0 jigs during light morning winds.
Best windows have been the pre-seabreeze mornings and the calm spell before a front, with a manageable southerly seabreeze building after lunch. Aim for a slow drift over 18–35 m for demersals; switch to anchor-and-burley when chasing whiting and herring on small long-shank hooks. Keep an eye out for surface bust-ups—roaming Samson fish will crush stickbaits outside the Three Mile.
Top tip: Mark any faint “fuzz” on your sounder—those subtle arches on low gain often indicate pressured dhufish; circle back and present a jig from up-drift for the bite.
