Boy this was good eating...my Husband caught this when it went after a small snapper which was eating squid on his hook...freaky, fun accident...but eating it was heaven!

well done - I've been trying to catch John Dory for ages, but no luck so far. where did you catch him. near a reef I suppose?

Nope, not near a reef...30 ft water. We had small snapper eating our bait and my husband was pulling in to check his hook and here was the John Dory! We think little snapper was munching away when Dory hit the snapper and also his hook! Total fluke, but sure would like to do that again! Bream Bay Harbor!

Funny thing...we opened Dory mouth and the tail of Snapper was sticking out...grabbed tail with pliers and eased it out and it was still alive! Tossed it back in with a kiss and told it to grow bigger for next time...lol!

So next time you hook a little one---toss it back and cross your fingers! haha! I cannot explain the flavor of this fish...I could eat it every day! Fishing has been a bit off for the last couple weeks so this was a wonderful day!

yeah I heard that they are one of the best table fish. I'll keep that in mind. Hopefully I'll manage to catch one too ;-)
