Current Fishing Weather
Wind Speed and Direction
Wind Direction:
Wind Speed:
Wind Direction and Speed are one of the most important aspects for choosing a fishing spot. An offshore wind can help land-based anglers with longer casting distances, while an onshore wind will make kayak fishing safer. Often fish will also move to certain feeding areas depending on the wind direction. Check out the long term wind forecast at the charts below.
Fishing Barometer
Atmospheric Pressure:
Change since midnight:
Trend for next 6 hours:
Atmospheric or Barometric Pressure affects fish activity. The best fishing can be had on a rising barometer and also the time just before it is falling. A steady barometer in the higher ranges can also mean good fishing. A falling or low barometer reading without much change is usually not a very good time for fishing.
UV Effect on Fishing
As a rule of thumb, the higher the UV index, the deeper fish will move. Shallow water fishing is best done at times with a low UV index. When the UV is high, stick to early mornings, late evenings and shaded areas. The effect is less noticable in deeper water, but often a higher UV index can produce good results in the deep.

Fishing Overview Greenville
Greenville, SC fishing revolves around a network of rivers, mountain streams and big reservoirs that fish well in every season. Within about 45 minutes of downtown you can be casting to wild trout in cold creeks, working points for Lake Hartwell bass, or drifting cut bait for trophy catfish on Lake Robinson and other Piedmont lakes.
Seasonal patterns shape the bite. In late winter and early spring, focus on prespawn largemouth and spotted bass staging on secondary points, channel swings and the first major drops outside shallow pockets on Hartwell, Keowee and Greenwood. Jerkbaits, Alabama rigs and 3–4 inch swimbaits excel in the clear water common to Upstate reservoirs. As water warms into late spring, bass push shallow on gravel and clay banks; a weightless soft jerkbait or floating worm is deadly around shoreline brush and docks.
Summer pushes bass deeper. On Hartwell and Keowee, look for spotted bass on offshore humps, timber edges and long tapering points in 20–35 feet. Drop‑shot rigs with finesse worms, vertical spooning and shaky heads catch fish when the sun is high. Night fishing around bridge pilings and lighted docks can be excellent in July and August, especially with big worms and deep‑running crankbaits. Fall brings schooling activity; keep a topwater walking bait or small fluke tied on to cast into breaking spots, stripers and hybrids chasing bait on main‑lake flats and creek mouths.
