I am going after some Murray Crayfish....

I have never gone after them before. So, of course I went to Youtube to get some tips. So looks like the same as crabs or yabbies.

Just have to get a couple of nets next time I go to Wagga...and a couple of cans of cat food

That's pretty cool mate, will we be seeing a video of your hunt?
I wonder if you could get them diving. The water is probably not clear enough to see anything, eh

Do you know how hard it is to do a "selfie video" of a Murray cray hunt ???

I will see what I can do....If I drown it's your fault !!!!

I have got my net...

A week and a half ago the river was not much more than a creek...No water...So I went to the river yesterday and it is now in flood !!...I am not kidding...It is right up over the grass !! Apparently the Tumut hills have had a lot of rain, so the river will come up even higher.

So I just have to wait for the river to go back down to "fishable" levels...

So, this morning I took the dog out for his morning run. I called into the shop on the way home...No one said anything to me. But it was pretty obvious that I was the only person in the supermarket not wearing a mask...Apparently at 6pm last night the entire state went into restrictions and lockdown (for pretty much all of Sydney and Wollongong)...Why was I not told about this ??...I was planning on going to Nowra next week. But with the Gong in lockdown it is pretty much a certainty that Nowra will be next !!

I haven't read through all the restrictions yet. But it looks like I can still go fishing....depending of course on what happens next !!

Well...There has been a lot of "next" happening !!!

Anyway...I have put the net in 3 times and nothing !! I tried 2 different brands of cat food !!...So I don't know, maybe I am holding my nose wrong or something ??? But then again this is the first time I have gone after Murray cray. So it might just be a case of trial and error...

More rain coming in later this week. But still about 6 weeks before the Cray season closes.

Hopefully you'll get one before the season closes.

The rain has eased a little over the past couple of days. More heavy rain forecast for the weekend...

So, I thought I would go and see what the river is doing...Not even out of the yard, sitting in the car, and it comes on the news FLOOD WARNING issued !!! They are going to open the dam. They say the dam cannot handle the expected rain on the weekend.

I went to the river anyway...Absolutely chocka block full !! Whether they open the dam or not, if it rains on the weekend the river will flood.

I just can't win !!... I might change my user name to Itsa-TackleRat haha

Oh well...The spirit was willing

I got the net in 3 times. But no luck. Looks like next year...

The rain finally eased up. But still a bit of flooding. I forget what day it was, but it was about a week ago a "minor flood" warning was issued for the Murrumbidgee. Not a lot of rain since then...

But we are now in Lock Down They have called a 7 day State wide Lock Down. But seriously, I don't see 7 days being enough. I don't know if fishing is allowed. Restrictions are pretty heavy this time. So I think I will just do my bit and stay home !!

Cray season ends on 1st Sept...Oh well..there is always next year

you might be in lockdown for a bit longer by the looks of it.
Crazy times, this virus is just not going away.

Yes, I can't see it being just 7 days.

I know a lot of people are very scared and worried. A lot of people are affected and their whole lives have been turned up side down...

I guess in that respect I am lucky. The Lock Down has very little affect on me. I don't go to pubs or clubs. I don't eat take away food or go to cafes etc. I naturally keep my distance from other people and I always have done. So, the Lock Down really doesn't change much about what I normally do. I can still take the dog for his walk etc. Just have to wear a mask - so what? I am not sure about travel. But the only place I want to go is Nowra and with the virus, I don't want to go there !!

But, I have not bothered to find out if I am allowed to go fishing. So what? The river is in flood anyway !!

It is going to be much longer than 7 days !! But I will just do my bit and stay home...
