I created a few new weather dials. Hope you guys like it and it will help you picking the right fishing times.
When you scroll down to the weather forecast on the fishing times page then you'll see a new wind dial, a fishing barometer and a gauge for the UV index with some descriptions. I'll be adding a few more gauges over the next few weeks and also update the graphics on the tide clock and solunar clock.
Looks like the wind compass needs some tweaking...It is showing W on the right. I would have thought the arrow should point toward where the wind is coming from not going to...So it looks like ti is upside down and mirror.
Everything else looks good. Well done
o forgot to mention - I also worked pretty hard on making the site load faster and reducing the size of data that needs to be downloaded, especially on mobile phones. Hope it will have a positive impact on the viewing experience.
btw: Big Thanks to everyone for participating and uploading all your awesome photos. Love seeing all the catches from around the world.
I thought the arrow is supposed to show where the wind is going to, the other side of the arrow is showing where it's coming from. That kinda makes more sense to me.
Or maybe not? Might have to make this more clear.
But I think it's pretty common or even standard to have the arrow pointing in the direction of the wind flow.
Haha...You don't go to church very often
The pointy end always point to where the wind is coming from...Have you ever known me to be wrong haha
This is what I see on my laptop...I have a new phone and haven't installed the app yet. See? W is on the right.
Other than that it all looks really good...I think you deserve a new T-shirt.
Yes, I noticed the date.
Latest Ubuntu comes with Firefox preinstalled.
The only system error I am aware of at the moment, is a MD error (part of the cache data base)...(I must get around to fixing that ).
EDIT: I see you posted while I was posting...So yeah, Firefox.
okay - found the issue with Firefox and should be fixed now. Let me know.
Not sure about the arrow direction - in most wind forecast sites the arrow is pointing in the direction of the flow like here on windfinder for example. That's what I'm used to - so I'll leave it for now unless I get more complaints, haha
Yep, looks good now...
See how quickly a problem can be fixed, when there is a new T-shirt involved !! haha
I hope I don't have to file any more "formal complaints" !! haha ...
Well, except for the arrow situation...that is going to be an on going dispute...I can see it turning into a flame war...hahaha
I'm with Mark on the arrow, it should point in the direction of the wind.
I love the site and reference it here on the east coast of Florida USA quite regularly. I love the additions and everyone's suggestions too.
I had to look up the wind direction arrows previously before seeing this blog as I wasn't sure how this site annotated the direction. I worked with tethered Aerostats for 3 years in Afghanistan and our military Wx showed the arrows pointing where the wind was going to, not from like a weather-vane which can cause some confusion as it seems counter intuitive in some respects. Here is a Kite link that shows the standard for reading wind weather data.
