Nice fish! That is a Kabeljou, or cob. I haven't seen them in NZ. I also found out that a Kingklip in South Africa is called a Ling over in NZ.??

I heard of Ling fish here in NZ. I actually had one once in an Asian restaurant. Was delicious. Never heard of anyone catching them though.

Nice fish. knowing cob quite well I would place its weight closer to 9 kgs. Very nice fish. An interesting thing about cob or kabeljou is they do have parasites or worm like creatures in their flesh at a certain time of year.

ok well i was wrong,we get ling here but only ever had fillet & no skin.real nice white flesh!

Sorry, South Africa - Cape Town on the west coast is a place called Langabaan. Great tourist destination with Kite surfing / Fishing etc. About an hours drive from where the Red Bull King of the Air took place.
