Fishing Overview for Barataria Bay

This productive bay system southwest of New Orleans features marsh ponds, cuts, and reefs holding redfish, speckled trout, and black drum; fall shrimp migrations and spring tides concentrate fish in drains and along shell. Boats weave the marsh for sight-casting reds and drifting trout slicks, while shore access exists at select points and camps linked to Grand Isle and the lower Barataria marsh. Nearest Hub: Gretna
