Onya. Thought it looked familiar. Paddled down there a week or so ago from Mangawhai. Only caught two kahawai and a kite fishos kite line. Gannets feeding hard-out lately and dove on a few of my livies b4 I gave up and slogged it home.

Oh! We have been to the beach and saw many surfers. We also saw a group of dolphins on that day. So we saw its is not a very good day for us to fish from the shore😜

Good call. It's nice when the dolphins are in a playful mood and hand around the kayak, even if they do shut the fishing down for quite a while. Even more fun when the orca do it. in summer both, and seals, will come right up the Mangawhai estuary occasionally. Not supposed to approach them but the orca came and said hello on my paddle out the estuary last summer. Was a great 15 mins or so.

Was wondering how long you had been there to get that many kahawai by sunrise. :-) Can avoid the surfers with a short walk over the hill to the rocks between there and Forestry. Can upgrade one of those kahawai to a hoodlum at the right time of year from those rocks. Of course, the latter will try their best to dust you in all the other rocks just offshore, but that's par for the course with those crafty fighters. The first trouble will be keeping the gannets away from your livie!
