Sun and Moon Times

The sun will be at it's highest point at . Today we have 14:11 hours of daylight. For shallow water fishing the twilight periods are often the most productive fishing times, especially on days when a major or minor time will coincide with twilight. In low light conditions predators have better cover for their ambush and often hunt in shallow water.

We can compare the current moon distance to it's minimum and maximum distance from earth and express that as proximity. A high proximity means the moon is closer to earth. At 50% it would be at it's mean distance. A high proximity causes big tides, currents and has a direct effect on increased bite times. A proximity greater than 90% indicates a super moon.

Tide Coefficient at 06:27 pm is 129

For fishing, stronger tides are often favourable as they cause stronger currents and more motion on the sea bed. The above tidal coefficients give us an indication of how strong the tides are compared to their average. A value over 90 indicates very strong tides, known as spring tides. A low value indicates weak tides, known as neap tides. The tidal coefficient can range from 20 to 120 with a mean value of 70. A higher number usually indicates better fishing.

7 Day Fishing Weather

The weather plays an important role in fishing. Wind strenght and direction often determine where you can fish and where fish might be holding. Although high pressure is usually good for fishing, steep pressure changes often trigger feeding frenzies and are great times for fishing. Of course temperature has also a strong effect on fishing and comfort on the water. So make sure to cross check the weather forecast with the solunar fishing times to determine the best times to go fishing. Fishing Overview Brunswick

Brunswick, Georgia sits in the heart of the state’s “Golden Isles,” giving anglers fast access to tidal rivers, expansive salt marsh, barrier island surf, and productive nearshore reefs. Understanding tides, water temperature, and seasonal movements is the key to consistent success around the Brunswick River, Turtle River, St. Simons Sound, and the sounds and inlets around Jekyll and St. Simons islands.

Seasonal patterns drive what you target and how you fish. From late fall through early spring, inshore fishing for redfish, speckled trout, and sheepshead is the main draw. Reds school on shallow mud flats and along oyster bars on sunny low tides; look for clear, cold water and tailing or pushing wakes. Trout stack in deeper bends of tidal creeks and along drop-offs in 6–12 feet of water, especially around strong current edges. As water warms in April and May, flounder move into the creeks and along shell points, while baitfish and shrimp flood the marsh, triggering aggressive feeding. Summer brings peak action for tarpon, sharks, king and Spanish mackerel, and tripletail, especially just off the beaches and along tide lines in St. Simons Sound. Early fall offers some of the year’s best all‑around fishing, with trout, reds, and flounder feeding heavily before the first cold fronts.

Key habitats around Brunswick include oyster-studded creek mouths, grass edges along the marsh, deep bends of the Brunswick and Turtle rivers, inlets around Jekyll and St. Simons, surf zones off the barrier islands, and a network of artificial reefs and natural live-bottom areas offshore. Productive inshore structure often combines three things: moving water, a hard bottom of shell or rock, and a defined depth change. Use your electronics and the tide chart together; many spots only fire on a particular stage of the tide.

Common techniques are simple but highly tide-dependent. For speckled trout and slot reds, a live shrimp or mud minnow under a popping cork is a staple, drifted along grass edges and creek mouths on a moving tide. In cooler months, soft plastics on 1/8–1/4 oz jig heads, worked slowly near the bottom, shine for both trout and redfish; choose natural colors in clear water and darker profiles in the typically tannic, stained water. For flounder, hop a jig tipped with shrimp or a finger mullet along the bottom around dock pilings and sand or shell points. Sheepshead relate tight to vertical structure like bridge pilings and rock piles; use small, strong hooks and fiddler crabs, dropping straight down and keeping the line tight to feel subtle bites.

Nearshore and offshore around Brunswick, slow trolling live pogies (menhaden) for king mackerel along shipping channels, near buoys, and over reefs is highly effective from late spring through early fall. Tripletail often float near the surface around crab trap buoys and current lines; sight-casting small live shrimp or jigs to them with stealth is the standard tactic. For tarpon in summer, anchor or slow-drift along channels and sandbars with live mullet or pogies on stout tackle, focusing on early mornings, late afternoons, and tide changes.

Tactical tips: Fish Brunswick like a true tidal estuary—plan your day around optimum tide stages instead of the clock. On big tide swings, concentrate on the last two hours of the falling and first two hours of the incoming tide. Downsize leaders and use lighter fluorocarbon when the water clears in winter; beef up for dock, bridge, and tarpon work. When exploring new water, cover ground with search baits like paddletail plastics and spoons, then slow down with live bait once you locate active fish. Always note where bait, birds, and current seams intersect; in the Brunswick area, those convergence zones consistently hold fish.

Beaches and Bays are ideal places for land-based fishing. If the beach is shallow and the water is clear then twilight times are usually the best times, especially when they coincide with a major or minor fishing time. Often the points on either side of a beach are the best spots. Or if the beach is large then look for irregularities in the breaking waves, indicating sandbanks and holes. We found 1 beaches and bays in this area.

Oglethorpe Bay - 2.19491922172km

Harbours and Marinas can often times be productive fishing spots for land based fishing as their sheltered environment attracts a wide variety of bait fish. Similar to river mouths, harbour entrances are also great places to fish as lots of fish will move in and out with the rising and falling tides. There are 3 main harbours in this area.
