My name's Jen, I'm from Lake Macquarie near Newcastle, NSW. I'm a fairly new fishing-lady, I married an obsessed fisherman about four years ago and we moved up to Lake Mac from Sydney two years ago. We bought a boat for his 60th birthday and that was it!

I had a great day yesterday, caught my first ever legal snapper and a lovely 50cm flathead. Mind you, it's a great day on Lake Mac even if you catch nothing.

You certainly picked a great place to settle down.

Sure did! Where I come from (northern part of Sydney) if you want to go fishing you have to pay to park, if you can find one. These days we just wander down the road to the boat ramp or fish from shore while the dogs have a run at the off-leash park. Heaven!

If you can you might like to do some weekend trips north. Great country and brilliant fishing. Kempsey is about 4 hours north and Coffs an hour past that. You will be amazed at how many great fishing spots there are along the way...Well worth the effort.
