Hi all,

I am a student in an Honors Engineering Program at Lehigh University who is on a team looking to design a fishing rod recovery system or other related equipment. We are currently trying to gather as much input as possible to help determine what problems exist in this realm, and created this short survey in order to do so.

It will take you five minutes to complete at most, but we greatly appreciate every single one of your responses to help us in our endeavor.

Here is the link:

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or want to talk more in depth about our product.

Sincerely,

Trevor Edwards

sounds interesting. I'll take the survey.

I lost two fishing rods on my kayak over the last couple of years.
Somehow managed to lift them out of their rod holder with my paddle while paddling and off they went.

Still not using any rod leashes. I'm a slow learner

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Ive only lost one rod and that was because I set it down to pour a coke. It seems to me that your recovery efforts would be more rewarding to fishing folks if you could find a way to recover lures. probably a loss ratio of 50 to 1 rods vs. lures. yes they cost less but so many are lost. Taking your survey also!

recovering lost lures is a great idea

Although this could be a tough project. Maybe impossible?

I always see people walking around beaches with metal detectors.
Maybe looking for lures? Or some other treasures.

But how would you get a lure that you lost in 10 meter deep water without diving equipment and very sharp eyes

Maybe a lure with a little motor and microchip, so that it can swim back on its own. Although it might then be fishing on its own and never make it back.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.
