I got this little reel a few days ago (cheap hehe...It was virtually given to me) and I have been trying to find info on it. I have never heard of the brand and Google has never heard of it either !!!

It is a very rare day that Google does not know !!

The brand is Troltek by the looks. Size 30 I assume. But it is more like a size 20...It says Toltrek 30 and it also has "angler" written on it.

As you can see, I have not even taken it off the rod it came with yet. But just looking at it, it sort of looks cheap. But the feel of it is anything but cheap. It feels really good quality. The features tell me this is not just a cheap reel...Lever drag with a lock-off, so it could be used as a casting reel. It also has a full drag button so you have to press the button to get full drag. Solid stainless steel mounting plate with bolt holes. Thumb line lay etc.

However, it is only one speed which I think is a little unusual for a lever drag of this size.

Does anyone know anything about this reel ? Cheers.

Not sure...

I have since removed it from the rod. I was expecting the country to be on the mounting foot...but nothing. Where it was made is a complete mystery. There is absolutely nothing on it anywhere to say where it was made.

Lever drag has been around for a while. But you usually only see it on larger reels. It is not often you see it on smaller reels like this one. I know Shimano TLD has been with us for at least 40 years. But even then I think their smallest TLD is size 25...Mind you, they did get sneaky and made a TLD with star drag - I know cos I have one !!

The spacer plates between the drag plate and the side covers looks like graphite. But it might be a fiberglass plastic...But again either way both are used today and have been for at least 50 years.

The logo sailfish is plastic like those stick-on button things. I am not sure how long we have been using them. But I am guessing it might bring it to 30 years max.

Thanks for confirming...We have something Google knows NOTHING about !! You usually get an old archived eBay listing or a Fred's tackle shop listing or something...But this baby returns nothing !!
