I have been trying different spots around the Timaru area for the last few weeks. Here is what has been happening...

Beach Road. Not a lot for me, small school sharks mainly.

Hook Swamp. Small School sharks, poor condition red cod, dogfish

Pareora. Small school sharks

St Andrews. Not a lot apart from a random Salmon!?!

Browns Beach. THE spot. Mainly Elephant fish of good size with the odd run of RIG. Coming on in the evening and more productive 1 hour prior to darkness.

Using a 2 hook dropper rig and long strips or tentacles of squid.

Heading back out tonight as it looks like a good evening for it..

Heading out to Hook after lunch, there have been a few Elephant fish taken lately, also a very large 7 giller about a month ago still out there. Fishing Rakia this Sunday the 4th then the big Surf casting competition at Hook Beach on the 11th Dec, all welcome especially juniors.
