Just got home from 6 weeks working at sea and had a chance to go fishing on Friday. Caught my first seven gill shark. 51.5kg and 2.33 metres. Played it for 20 min and took about 15 min to get it out of the surf. Not bad for 10kg line I think. Will be heading out again next week to try my hand again. Caught at Browns Beach just north of Temuka.

Good fight.
I am getting a team or two together to fish in Christchurch Surf competition starting in June, interested good monthly fun. then to hopefully hold an event, Hook would be good around Nov Dec.
