Caught this Beast on 01/01/2009... Not a bad start to the year Near Stephenson Is. Northland NZ. Im stoked to be a Diver in NZ. Hit me up if you want to find Crays :-)

wow mate - I didn't know we get so big ones over here in NZ. That is fantastic. I think the Northland rocks :-) What''s that fish in the picture? Haven't seen any of those around Auckland :-)

According to locals, It was a trumpeter.. but it was an ugly one. speared at 70ft with a paired mate along side. both out of a 10ft inflatable 3km offshore

Hi Guys, Good catch, definitely a Trumpeter and a Pack Horse Cray too....Well Done ..I used to fish off Slipper Island sme type of catch there too.. BUT NOT diving.. Hook line and cray basket baited with Rubber Lips OR(Green Bone)used to do the cray baskets(POTS) about every three days.. Cheers Allfish.

Nice catch alright. That cray looks like something from alien. Wrapped around your head easily especially with them 2 from claws...ouch!

Not that many of these around nowadays. They got raped back in the day. Trophies. Pigfish ay? Got a photo of my ex holding a big Green on the Triphena wharf. She's holding the Big feelers at the head and the tail is touching the deck. Will post if I can find it ... Monster!
