Happy new year to you for you too, salad!! South Island is a little more challenging to fish, which I like :) Currently trying to catch my first elephant fish. But time is running out as they are mainly caught from October to December.

I remember Rex catching them in Western Port Vic, on TV. You are only allowed 1 fish & can`t fillet at sea. Weird looking things

yeah they look awesome, somewhat prehistoric. Didn't know that you can also catch them in Australia. They must be rare with these restrictions. Apparently they only eat shellfish with mussels or crabs being the best baits.
