Hey guys, been fishing the Auckland harbor for 15 years. Lived in Tairua for 3 years and have fished alot around coromandel. Fished many a holiday up at bay of islands and just recently started fishing kaipara. Keen as to hear from anyone who wants to catch decent fish, and Pitt themselves against a few of aucklands youngest, yet most experienced fishermen! If you have a boat, or access to 1, and you are keen to do convoys to decent fishing spots, let me know! We could all be doing better, and learning from each other at the same time!! I have 5.3 Mclay, so can go 90% of places, and generally most anglers are very happy with the results! Basically just wanting to meet like-minded fishermen, who are keen to join the convoy and all get in on it together.. Fishermen who agree with my boat motto: This boat runs on fuel, those fish were caught using bait...NOT THANKS BRO! Haha

Hiya Softbaitguru

Welcome to fishingreminder.
I got only access to my fishing kayak - totally addicted to kayak fishing
I fish a lot around Aucklands east coast with great results. Only soft baits - they work great for me.

I'd love to give the Kaipara a go - but I'm a bit worried about the strong currents. Might not be so suitable for my kayak

Went out on the Manukau harbour once and almost got dragged out to open sea by the outgoing tide

Perhaps surf casting for Gurnard on the wild west coast might be a good option for me during this winter. Although I wonder how softbaits would perform when surf fishing...

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.
