Omaha Beach Fishing

Flyer says:

Hi, I will be staying at Tawharanui for a night on the 30th Dec and wanted to do a drone fish. Just wondered what Omaha beach would be like, or what other options in the area would be?

Appreciate a heads up as I`m not familiar with the area.

Hey mate,

Omaha is usually super crowded at this time of the year and you got houses right behind the beach.

Not ideal for drone unless you go super early before everyone gets up. Otherwise there'll be kids and kayaks and boats and all sorts in the water.

I'd say Paikiri Beach is a better option for drone fishing a bit less busy there. Unless the surf is good.

But it's a large beach, if you walk a bit you might find a suitable spot without people.

Otherwise closer to Tawharanui on the other side of the peninsula - Jones Bay maybe...

But I'm not sure what the current regulations are and if you are still allowed to fish there or not.

Also gotta check the airshare app for flight restrictions in the area.

This part of the coast is not ideal for drone fishing, mainly because it's a holiday hotspot and there so many people everywhere. The west coast is generally a better option.

Hope that helps

Cheers

Mark

Thanks Mark, that's helpful. I would be 6am -7am so should be able to avoid people in the main I`m picking.

Glad I could help, let us know how you get on.

A bit late replying back, but as you will recall a cyclone came through at that time so no fishing. Nice area though and will certainly be trying this spot in the near future.
