Hi Softbait Bob

Thanks for the update.

Sounds great - I was planning to do some fishing beginning of this coming week.

Was gonna go North to Mahurangi Bay - there are also lots of nice big squid around.
But maybe I'll go down to kawa kawa bay instead - always used to have some good catches around there during winter.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

Great stuff - Did you use bait or lures?

I've been thinking to go trout fishing tomorrow but after reading your post I might reconsider and go for snapper.

I usually go around the Kawakawa Bay / Orere Point area.

Hi treblehooked - I'll probably be fishing around Kawa Kawa Bay - either Tomorrow or Monday morning.

If you see somebody softbaiting in a green hobie kayak - that would be me

Which soft baits were you using?

Nice to meet you there Softbait Bob...

We drew a blank today. Went in and went straight to the island - nothing there for about an hour. Then moved around quite a bit - checked the flats, the hole - few bites here and there but nothing in the boat. You must have got the early morning /change of light bite. Very slow day for us... Still a nice day to go out.

I went out the other day and got my personal best snapper.
Around 20 pounds so I guess its true - winter = big snapper

Got him on a 6inch lime tiger in 7 meter deep water pretty close to the rocks.
Was early morning during a major time.
